About BUCM

Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) is located in the capital city of Beijing, which is China’s political, economic and cultural centre, also the confluence of some of the world’s most prestigious universities. Beijing is home to one of the most ancient civilizations in the world, known for its distinctive traditional culture and outstanding educational resources.

 

BUCM is the only TCM university affiliated with the Ministry of Education in China. Many of famous experts and teachers here together, BUCM combines traditional with modern elements perfectly. Highly Qualified English and Chinese Teaching Staff 

BUCM is the only university of TCM selected by the Ministry of Education as a demonstration centre for international education. The faculty consists of 4,422 members, 972 of whom are professional teaching staff including 314 doctorate degree supervisors, with 74% of them holding a master degree, while 64% of the teachers are senior professionals.

The Finest Affiliated Hospitals for Clinical Practice

BUCM has four affiliated hospitals: Dongzhimen Hospital, Dongfang Hospital, The Third Affiliated Hospital and Zaozhuang Hospital, which in total provide 3,000 hospital beds and up to 15,000 daily outpatients. BUCM has 37 clinical teaching centres as well as China’s most influential TCM clinic of Guoyitang, where over 200 Chinese medicine masters and experts are stationed long-term. BUCM also operates the Kotzing TCM Clinic in Germany.

A Comprehensive Educational System for TCM

The school offers four undergraduate degree programs: Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese Materia Medica, Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Tuina, as well as Integrated Western and Chinese Medicine, all of which highlight the culture and distinguishing characteristics of TCM. Integrated Western and Chinese Medicine provides equal emphasis on TCM and western medicine, while the rest three programs provide students with more than 60% of TCM related courses.

Methods of Class Setting

Teaching is divided into two models: A and B. Students can study together with the Chinese students, or study with the international students.

Comprehensive Clinical Training and Internship Arrangements

Clinical practice is arranged for 58 weeks for undergraduate students, with a variety of experiences throughout the learning period.

A Variety of High Value Scholarships

BUCM offers a variety of scholarships: the Chinese Government Scholarship, the Beijing Foreign Students Scholarship, the China Ministry of Education Scholarship for Outstanding Self-funded Students as well as the BUCM International Students Scholarship. Nearly 50% of freshmen and up to 30% of all enrolled students receive a scholarship.

Work and Study in Beijing

Beijing, China’s cultural, economic, scientific and technological centre, provides graduates with a wide range of employment opportunities.

Graduates of BUCM can take the National Physician Qualification Examination in China.

International students of BUCM have a passing rate of over 60%, which is equivalent to theChinese students.

Students may choose to pursue master or doctoral degrees at BUCM or other institutions of TCM.

Registration Information

1.Admission Procedure

Submit application documents → Assessment of documents by BUCM → Take the Entrance Examination → Receive the acceptance letter, Foreign Students VISA Application Form and JW202 form → Apply for VISA at the Chinese embassy of the student’s country of origin → Arrive at school

2.Application Documents

·BUCM  Application Form for International Students

·Letter of guarantee from a guarantor of Chinese nationality and aphotocopy of their identity card

·Photocopies of the student’s latest qualification certificate and transcripts (original documents are required when reporting to class.)

·A photocopy of passport (original document is required when reporting to class.)

·Two most recent 2-inch passport photos

·Application fee of 800CNY

Scholarship Opportunities

1.The BUCM International FreshmanScholarship

Please consult Admission Office for details.

2.The Chinese Government Scholarship(Full Scholarship)

The application period for the Chinese Government Scholarship is January to the beginning of April annually. Applicants may refer to the official websites http://www.campuschina.org/ or http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua/ for the latest information. Alternatively, applicants may contact the Chinese embassies or the BUCM International School.

3.The China Ministry of Education Scholarship for Outstanding Self-funded Students

The assessment is based upon the students’ academic achievement, as well as classroom performance.

4.The Beijing Foreign Students Scholarship

The assessment is based upon the students’ academic achievement, as well as classroom performance.

Scholarship amount:

1st prize: 15,000 CNY
